Subscriptions from those becoming a Friend of the Festival provide GSMF with a small but regular income. This enables the organisation to make commitments to performers up to two years in advance and secure the appearance of busy international artists who might otherwise not be free to take part in the Festival week. Commitments can also be made to venues and service companies in advance of ticket sales. GSMF needs to balance the books each Festival, but also needs to have financial resources to set up each Festival. This important contribution from Friends of the Festival is recognised by GSMF by granting a permanent discount of £1 off each ticket purchased as well as Friends receiving other special benefits. Friends will receive a complimentary invitation to the programme launch concert held in the autumn before the spring festival week. Gold level Friends (over £50 subscription) will receive two complimentary tickets for a Festival event of their choice (excluding the Gala Concert). Both Gold and Silver (£20 subscription) Friends will receive advanced notice of the Festival programme and brochure as well as a priority booking period before public booking opens. For GSMF 2010 the Friends Booking Period starts on 30th November 2009 Become a Friend or renew your Friend's subscription before you buy your tickets and ensure you receive the Friends' discount for the events in this brochure. Friends are given a membership number to use when buying tickets to obtain the discount.
